Bobbie N. Hipp

Bobbie Nell Brashears Hipp was born in rural Coal County, OK on February 2, 1930 to Robert M. Brashears and Jewell Jennings Brashears. She met R. J. Hipp when she started college at East Central. After one semester at 18 years old and 19 days of age on February 21, 1948, they married.

In Dec. of 1961 when she was 12 days old RoNel entered their life. On April 4, 2000, Bobbie & R.J. became grandparents when RoNel welcomed Athena into her family. In Nov of 2000, RoNel became a parent to Angelica and R.J. and Bobbie welcomed their second much loved granddaughter.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her sister; Geneva O’Neal and her husband Edgar; a niece, Sharon O’Neal and her parents. She is survived by her beloved daughter; RoNel, much loved daughter; Athena and Angelica, great granddaughters who always brought her joy, Jaimeson and Gracelyn; two nephews Gary O’Neal and wife, Linda; Ricky O’Neal and several great nieces and nephews. She stated about her survivors. “They have had a profound effect on me.”

She is also survived by hundreds of students whom she taught with skill, tenacity, iron will and the gift of joy in the process. She will be profoundly missed.
