Betty spent her early years in and around Kingfisher, Crescent, and Enid, Oklahoma. It was in Enid that she met Norman “Keith” Barnum and it was there that they were married on January 17, 1954. Betty and Keith had three sons, Mike Barnum, Dennis Barnum, and Mark Barnum before moving to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1963. After arriving in Edmond, they had a daughter Sheri (Barnum) Hartley. Betty stayed at home during the earlier years in Edmond or worked in the nursery at 1st Baptist and eventually took a job at Adams Millis Hosiery Plant in Edmond. She spent more than 10 years there before taking on retirement. She then went back to taking care of babies at 1st Baptist (her biggest passion). After 54 years of life in Edmond, they moved into Lionwood Senior Living Center in Oklahoma City.
Besides being preceded in death by her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Pool and Theo Pool and her sisters Lorene Brock, Thelma Hansens. She is survived by a sister, Eva Golden, son James Michael “Mike” Barnum of Marion, Indiana, son Dennis William Barnum of Huntington, Indiana, son Mark Alan Barnum and wife Beverly of La Grange, NC, and daughter Sheri Kay Barnum Hartley and husband Shad of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, Michael “Damon” Barnum and wife Mandy, Justin Earl Barnum, Kianna Jo (Annie) Montz and husband Jeremy, Chrissy Dawn Merritt and husband Sean, Elizabeth Kay Kennedy, Kenneth Alan Barnum and wife Vanessa, Melody Lee Hartley, Aubry Rose Hartley, and eight great-grandchildren, Marcus Dylan Barnum and wife Lily, Jason Bryant Barnum, Chealsie Marie Merritt, Michael “Solomon” Barnum, Micah Lynn Barnum, Paige Makayla Montz, Kora Sue Montz, and Estevan Mulligan.
Funeral services are to be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. The service will be held at First Baptist Church of Edmond, 1300 E 33rd St, Edmond OK 73013 with interment to follow at Oakland Knowles Cemetery in Crescent, OK.
