The daughter of the late Benjamin S. Baker and Alice Baker, Ada was born in Warwick, Oklahoma on March 22, 1931 at her grandparents' house. Her family moved to Edmond in 1936 with her three older brothers. After moving to Edmond, she attended Kinsley School for 1st grade, then Clegern Elementary on Jackson Street and was in the graduating class of 1949 from the original Edmond High School located on Boulevard.
While attending High School she worked at the Bronco Theater (currently Othello’s restaurant), running the movie projector and as a cashier.
After high school, Ada married her longtime friend and the love of her life, Oral Ray Jones, in 1949. They resided in Edmond and raised two children, Raenada Fitzgerald and Michael Jones. Ada was employed at W.R. Johnston for 40 years, working her way from secretary to Investment Manager.
After successful careers, Ada and Oral Ray moved to their home at Lake Texoma to enjoy their retirement where they enjoyed fishing, sitting on their patio visiting with friends as they stopped by, and going to casinos. Ada painted ceramics and worked on quilting, winning several fair ribbons, and traveling in their motorhome. She also became a genealogist, finding she loved researching the family history. Ada volunteered at the Auxiliary Fire Department and Water Department near the lake. Oral Ray was steadfast by her side.
In 2006, Oral Ray and Ada moved back to Edmond to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Here, they loved remodeling their new home, gardening, sewing, continuing work on family genealogy, and sitting in the sunroom together, enjoying life and their family.
Ada was preceded in death by her husband Oral Ray Jones, parents, brothers, and her grandson Edward Fitzgerald. She is survived by numerous children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family would like to express gratitude to the caregivers and Mercy Hospice who provided exceptional care to Ada during her final years.
