William O. Leader, 83, of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, April 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of his high school sweetheart, the late Joan (Rogers) Leader with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
Born February 3, 1932 in Plainfield Township, Pa; he was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Heater) Leader.
William was a 1949 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School. He lettered in football and baseball. After graduation, he worked on the Lackawanna railroad with his father until he was deployed on active duty serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He then started a career at Hughes Printing Company. Years later he also worked as a part time school bus driver for East Stroudsburg Area School District until retirement from the printing company. He then worked as a full time bus driver for the school. He devoted his time in his earlier years as an East Stroudsburg Little League coach and bowled in the morning league at Colonial Lanes. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, VFW, Eagles, 50+ Club, and was a board member on the East Stroudsburg Recreational Board. He loved watching all sports on television.
Surviving are two daughters: Laurie Klingel and her husband Barry A. of East Stroudsburg, PA; Beth Stout and her husband Robert of Wernersville, PA. Four grandchildren: Nathan Klingel of East Stroudsburg; Allison Ross and her husband Scott of Troy, MI; Lauren Stout of Houston, TX; and April Stout of Wernersville, PA. Also, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, William was predeceased by his sisters: Irene Snyder, Ruth Litzenberger, and Shirley Hilliard.

There will be a visitation held at the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home 27 Washington St. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 10:00Am until the time of service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the Prospect Cemetery 501 Prospect St, East Stroudsburg.
