Robert H. Rohner Sr. 77, of Bushkill, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 18, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was the husband of Nancy Bunnell Rohner. They were married on November 19, 1960 in the Bushkill Reform Church; they would have been married 56 years.
Born on January 27, 1939 in Summit, New Jersey he was the son of the late Carl E. and Florence Ader Rohner.
Robert was a graduate of Madison High School in Madison, NJ. Then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, July 1957. General Coaches from NJ picked a dream team from schools in NJ and he was picked as the tackle for the team. He was active in the Bushkill Fire co. and is now an honorary member. He served as assistant chief and then fire chief for 12 years, and then continued on to be president of the company from 1983-1994.
He owned a construction business with his brother, Romo Inc. and then he had another construction business with two of his brothers Rohner Bros & the Rustic Acres Water Co. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Bushkill for 29 years. Robert also was a Deputy Game Warden form 1962-1987. He also was fire warden for many years.
Robert helped build the first Little League Field in Bushkill and they started the first team- G.H. Litts & Son under the direction of Bud Steele. He started out as the assistant of the team and continued on to coach the team. In his later years after he retired he was the score keeper for his grandson’s team Thunder Creek & LTS.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his wife Nancy, sons Rob (Bob Snee) Wayne (Luann), Grandson; Jordon Lucas, and his brothers Moe, NC, John SC and many nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter Jacquelyn Ann, and a brother Tom.
A viewing will be held at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home 27 Washington St. East Stroudsburg PA,18301 on Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Thursday August 25, 2016 from 10:00am to 11:00 am followed by a prayer service being officiated by Pastor Jim Virtue of the Bushkill Reform Church all at the funeral home, burial to follow at the Sandhill Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
