Born May 30, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Emerald) Bauer of Manhattan, NY.
Born and raised in New York City, Frank was one of thirteen children raised by a single mother. Frank graduated from Chelsea Prep School and later became a Police Officer for the NYPD. He protected and served his city for 20 years, the last ten years he was promoted to a narcotics detective. Frank actually received an award from the NYPD for 20 years of service without using one sick day. He was incredible. Frank was a veteran of The US Marines; he would never let you forget that. He served in WWII, during the invasion of Okinawa.
Frank married his childhood sweetheart, Georgiana, in 1948. Come to find out, they were born on the same day, at the same hospital; they were meant to be. Frank and his family moved to the Poconos in the 70’s after his retirement from the NYPD. He was a proud member of the VFW, American Legion, and various veterans’ organizations. He was a hard worker and will be remembered for his dedication through every task presented to him. Frank was a strong, kind, loving man who will be sincerely missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
In addition to his parents, Frank had been preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Georgiana and his son-in-law, Anthony Tortorici.
Frank is survived by his children; Bobby Bauer and his wife Debbie, of Huntingtown, MD, Richard Bauer and his wife Katie, of Effort, PA, and Donna Marie Tortorici, of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren: Samantha, Kristi, and Anthony Bauer, Melissa Billings and her husband Jimmy, of Lusby, MD, and Lauren Sharpe and her husband Jason, of Prince Frederick, MD; great-grandson: Jake Billings; sister-in-law: Betty Drinkwater, of Long Island, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
