Charles D. (Carlo) Gambino, born February 7, 1930, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2011, in his home in Bushkill, PA. Mr. Gambino was born and raised in Queens NY. He served in the Korean War as an airframe mechanic, doing service in the European Theatre. Following the war, he was employed at Western Electric as a maintenance mechanic. He then began his career in school maintenance where he rose to be a custodial engineer for the New York City Board of Education, District 18, Brooklyn, PS 208. He retired in 1995 to pursue his love of family, music, fishing and inventing things.
Surviving are two brothers, Julius Gambino of Bushkill, PA, Rico Gambino of Rockaway, NJ; sister, Nancy Thompson of IL; seven children, Steve Gambino of Finesville, NJ, Joanne Gucciardo of Jersey City, NJ, Donald Gambino of Purdys, NY, Michael Gambino of Somers, NY, Richard Gambino of Eugene, OR, Daniel Gambino of Morgantown, WV and Susan Beddia of Roselle Park, NJ; plus seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, PA. Additional viewing will take place on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm at The Church of Saint John in Marshalls Creek, officiating will be Rev. Jeffrey Walsh. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery, in Marshalls Creek, PA.
