William E. “Bill” Smyth, 85, of Flintstone, Georgia died December 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born June 12, 1927 in St. Elmo, Tennessee to the late Robert Henry and Mary Georgia Ann (Anderson) Smyth. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma F. Smyth, two grandchildren Karla D. Tackett and Robert Wes Smyth, Jr. and four brothers.
Mr. Smyth was a member of the St. Elmo Church of Christ, the American Legion Ft. Oglethorpe Post 214, and Rossville Masonic Lodge # 397. He was a World War II veteran of the American Merchant Marines and a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include sons John Deck Smyth, Robert Wes Smyth and William Vic Smyth; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 29, at 11:00 am in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Minister John T. Smithson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-8 Friday evening.
