Rachel Elizabeth Shipman

Heaven gained a new angel on Christmas day, Rachel Elizabeth Shipman, 95, of East Ridge, Tennessee. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church before joining Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of Pioneer Sunday School Class, 55 and Alive and United Methodist Women. Rachel had worked at Railway Express before beginning her career with Provident Life and Accident Company. She was the ultimate caregiver, caring for many of her family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles N. and Dottie Belle Carpenter Shipman; a brother, William C. Shipman and a sister, Madge (Marvin) Loggins. Survivors include three nephews, Tom (Judy) Loggins, David (Marsha) Loggins and Ed Loggins; five great-nephews; three great-great nieces and five great-great nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Marvin Howard officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
