She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was a longtime choir member and church orchestra member. Joan was involved in many church ministries including making prayer quilts for the sick and homebound and knitted blankets for wheelchair bound patients. She was active in Power and Victory ministries. Joan loved playing her violin and enjoyed her time with the Chattanooga track and bike clubs where she completed her first marathon at age 62.
Joan had worked for Johnston Southern Company as an administrative assistant for almost 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Betty Frischmann and her loving husband, Donald Miller.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristy (Phil) Pryor and Jenny (David) Payne of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Zoe Pryor, Ava Pryor, Allie Payne and Kelsey (Makenna) Rozzell; brother, Fred (Lois) Frischmann and their children, Abby (Ben) Goerz, Nathan (Nikole) Frischmann; great-nieces and nephews, Everleigh and Adeline Goerz and Tatum and Austin Frischmann.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday and from 9:30 – 10:30 AM Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 822 Belvoir Avenue in East Ridge, Tennessee.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Joan’s memory.
