He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Known affectionately as "Poppy," Jack was a passionate sports advocate who found immense joy in attending local sporting events. His presence on the bleachers, cheering for his favorite teams, endeared him to many in the community. His enthusiasm for sports will be remembered by all who knew him. He and his wife followed their children to Chattanooga from New York where they had worked in the real estate business together before retiring. Jack's commitment to family extended to his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife, Teresa Silberman, his parents Charles and Phoebe Silberman, and his sister Birdie Kahn.
Their memory will remain intertwined with his, a testament to the importance of family bonds throughout his life.
Jack is survived by his three children, Stu Silberman (Kathy), Jack Silberman (Michele), and Anita Coleman (Bryon).
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday September 7, 2023 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National Cemetery alongside his loving wife, Teresa.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Meals On Wheels or the Jewish Federation Of Greater Chattanooga.
