Originally from Cleveland, Tennessee, Jack left to join the US Army, serving on active duty for 21 years and retiring as a counter-intelligence warrant officer. His overseas tours were in Korea; Germany; Viet Nam, where he received a Purple Heart; and Thailand. Following his retirement, he ultimately settled in East Ridge, where he lived for nearly 40 years. He retired from his second career as federal investigator with the Department of Defense in 1994.
He was active as both a 33° Mason and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where he held the positions of Past Master of Worley Lodge and Worthy Patron of the Brainerd/East Ridge chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star among others.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Denise Mullinax of Chickamauga and Jack and Karla Mullinax of Flintstone; his daughter and daughter-in-law Melissa and Beth Warrick-Mullinax of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Patti Mullinax, of East Ridge; five grandchildren, Patrick and Madison McCullough and Jack Andrew, Taylor and Jameson Mullinax, all of whom he dearly loved; his brother Earl F. Mullinax Jr. of Bastrop, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen Mullinax; parents, Earl and Irene Mullinax; brother, Ronald Joe Mullinax, and sister, Patsy R. Morrow, all of Cleveland, TN.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road in East Ridge. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Jacques officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
