Mr. Miller was born in Elizabethton, TN. He was a WWII US Army veteran, injured in the South Pacific working in Heavy Demolition.
After the war, Charlie graduated from Kirkman Tech in Mechanical Drawing. While at Kirkman, he established Disabled Enterprises. He received the US Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award, the State of Tennessee Governor’s Achiever Award and Young Man of the Year Award.
He opened the Center for Handicapped Employees and vocational rehabilitation. Charlie was instrumental in establishing Disabled Enterprises in Chattanooga and services for the handicapped people of the Chattanooga area. Charlie was the owner and operator of Miller Sand Cleaning Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Miller; and brothers, Carl, Tom and James.
Surviving are his children, Mike (Nancy) Miller and Charlene Sue Trotter; grandchildren, Angie (Curt) Hatfield, Amy (Scott) Parris, Beth (Jim) Guillot, Stacey (Jimmy) Porter, Arty Trotter and Brooke Miller Cates; 13 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday and 12 Noon to 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. David Brackett officiating.
Entombment will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Tyson Schmidt, Jim Guillot, Scott Parris, David Boyd, Chris Stoglin, Arty Trotter, Jake Cooper and Jimmy Porter.
