Claris Lee Stewart Bishop, daughter of Clarence David Stewart and Dessie Lee Williams Stewart was born Jan. 28,1926, in Atlanta, Ga. She attended Russell High School, Tift College and graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in education. She taught in Fulton County school system for 28 years. She was an avid tennis player and played with ALTA after her retirement. Gardening was also passion. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of ATL since 1982, and volunteered in hospitality at the church. She was president of the Forget Me Not garden club and a member of the East Point Women's Club. She lived in the same house in Jefferson Park, East Point since 1940. She is survived by her loving son Stewart and daughter-in-law Mari as well as her brother Richard and sister Hannah.Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Historic Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home 2968 East Point St., East Point, GA 30344. Entombment Westview Abbey. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
