She was born on September 18, 1941 in Pinckneyville, IL to Howard and Ruby (Brown) Clark. She married Edward Alfeldt on March 31, 1962 in Pinckneyville. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1997. Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sara (Steven) Smithson and Debora Alfeldt both of East Peoria; two grandchildren, Justin Smithson of East Peoria and Jessica Cox of Aurora, CO; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Myla, and Isaac; and two siblings, Ted (Peggy) Clark and Joy (Richard) Porter both of Du Quoin, IL.
Ruth will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to her children and grandchildren's ball games, traveling with her husband, going to church and reading her bible. Ruth was devout in her faith and attended the First Church of God in Pekin.
A funeral service will be on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 2 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
