Robert E. Kennemer, 94, of Peoria, IL passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital. He was born March 14, 1920 in Fort Collins, CO to John and Cleo (Holloway) Kennemer. Robert married Mary Page in 1943, after her passing he married Louise Page Barnabee in 1999.
Robert graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Peoria where he started his career at Caterpillar. He later joined the United States Navy where he taught the new science of radar. Upon returning to Peoria, he resumed his career at Caterpillar retiring after more than thirty years of service.
Surviving are his daughter, Pat Kettell of Ocala, FL; his son Bill Kennemer of Tucson, AZ; step-daughters, Kitty (Mike) McKelvey of Waynesville, MO, Barb (Bob) Keene of Astoria, IL, Debra Barnabee of Seattle, WA; step-sons, Jerry (Pam) Barnabee of Plato, MO and Mike (Etsuko) Barnabee of Gaeta, Italy, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and his daughter Mary Ellen Purdy.
Robert enjoyed traveling the world, flying his own plane, and photography. He was loved and will be deeply missed by his family.
