Robert L. Jones

Bob was born July 25, 1937 in Peoria to William E. and Mary Maxine (Vrell) Jones. He married Valerie Jones on February 25, 1956 in Peoria and she preceded him in death on June 24, 1994. He later married Theresa C. Benkse on May 11, 1996 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his six children, Bob Jr (Carolyn) of New Smyrna, FL, Regina Green of Washington, Russell (Carol) of West Peoria, James (Karen) Peoria Heights, Varinia (Donald) Bush of Canton, IL, and Gail (Greg) Dennis of Peoria; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four sisters, Francine Jones of Kewanee, Carol Slane of Liverpool, Donna Hoshor of Pekin, and Lori Towery of OH; two brothers, Henry "Butch" Vance of Canton and Donald Worlow of Pekin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, twins Amanda and Angela, and Gary Dean; two sisters, Jackie Shumaker and Mary Faye Wilcoxen; and a son-in-law, Glenn Green.

Bob graduated from Woodruff High School and worked as a General Foreman for Caterpillar at the Mapleton Foundry for over 40 years until retiring in 1994 . He was a member of the I.V.W. and St. Monica Catholic Church. Bob enjoyed cycling, riding his Harley and spending time with his family, step family members, friends, and dog Buddy.

A funeral service will be on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 9:30AM until the start of the service at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
