Born in Chicago, IL, she was the only girl of five children born to the late Paul Michael Steiert (1960) and Mae Ambrosia (Longhway) Steiert Flamm (1995).
Jeanne’s professional career boasted a variety of jobs including respiratory care technician at Methodist Hospital and core inspector at Caterpillar Mapleton plant. She completed her working career, before retiring, as an office manager for the Country Club of Peoria, where she held, for 13 years, the position of secretary to the Club manager and was well respected.
Beyond her professional life, and that of a mother, Jeanne was an active member of Crosspoint Church in East Peoria. She found joy in her many hobbies, including gardening, traveling, cooking, organizing things, and in her younger years, clogging, as well as volunteering at Methodist Hospital. Jeanne was known for having a great sense of humor, her classy dressing, and for constantly sweeping the garage floor.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her spouse of more than 40 years, Henry Armstrong, originally from Newcastle, England (May 24, 2024); her parents; and brothers, Don W. Steiert (2004), Neil Edward Steiert (2021), Bruce Francis Steiert (2001), and Michael Peter Steiert (2014).
Jeanne leaves behind family and friends including her sons, Dan (Debbie) Thompson of Washington, IL, and Dwight (Larisa) Brown of Kansas City, MO; her granddaughters, Renna (Stephen) Brunton of Metamora, IL, and Hayley Thompson of Spring Bay, IL; four great-grandchildren, Saylor, Calum, Kye, and Teague; niece Lauren Steiert of Round Lake, IL, and two nephews Mike and Gary Steiert of Franklin, NC; and many loving friends, including Jan Sullivan, Cindy Wilson, and Sandy Skold.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Oakridge-Glen Oaks Cemetery in Hillside, IL. Cremation has been entrusted to Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.
