Sok Sun Yun, age 80, of Okemos, MI passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020. Sok was born to Oak San Kim and Jae Tek Yun on July 25, 1939 in South Korea. He and Chong Sun Chong were joined in marriage on December 31, 1968. With the prospect of a better life, Sok and Chong along with their three young sons immigrated to The United States leaving behind the security of his family and a successful business. They arrived in The United States in February 1976. Sok and his family settled in Charlotte, MI where he was employed by Hoover Aluminum Extrusion. He later returned to owning and operating his own businesses including Okemos Oriental Supermarket, Meadowview Adult Foster Care Home and Eastside Party Store. In 2008?, Sok proudly became an American citizen. Sok was a faithful Christian and he solidified his faith through baptism at New Hope Baptist Church on April 14, 2014. Sok’s greatest joys were gardening, attending church and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved to watch the ticker to follow the stock market. Sok was preceded in death by his son, Song Chol Yun. He is survived by his wife, Chong; his sons Song Min and Song U (Katie); his daughter-in-law guang Shi and Nikole; and 6 grandchildren: Ok Jung, Isabella, Anthony, Joey, Ethan, and Stella. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm, Friday June 12, 2020 at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Okemos. The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing, Michigan.
