Mom was the third child born to Charlie and Anna Piper on January 30, 1931 in Okemos, Michigan. She graduated from Okemos High School in 1948 and married Maurice Hoag in April, 1949 and they had four children.
Mom faithfully served at Miller Road Bible Church as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She retired from Waverly Schools. She enjoyed golfing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mom lived a life that resembled the woman of Proverbs 31. She was clothed in strength and dignity and it was evident by the life she lived. She was selfless as a caregiver most of her adult life and did it with dignity and grace. A life well done mom. We were truly blessed.
Phyllis is survived by a son Russell (Cheri) Hoag and a daughter Hope (Jon) Daniels, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sisters Carol (David) Piper-Halliday and Sharon (Ron) Piper-Hodowaine as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Maurice Hoag, daughter Faith Holty, son Daniel Hoag, sisters Elsie (Sis) Moore and Barbara Miller. Brothers Basil Piper and Gordon Piper.
Russ, myself and the entire family are grateful for the “surprise” visits, lunches and dinners with various family members mom received over the past two weeks. A special thank you to Tom and Cathy for your love and care of mom we are so grateful. We are especially grateful for Gods love and compassion toward mom by sending two angles, Mary Kay and Joshua to mom’s side on Friday. Thank you.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
