Our beloved mother, Margaret Louise Lewis, (nee' Kellogg), has passed into Heaven. Margaret, aka "Peg", was born on November 14, 1926 and passed-on May 07, 2023. She was the first-born child of Marion George and Christina Mdelena Kellogg. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan and died of natural causes in East Lansing, MI, while in the care and keeping of her loving and devoted children.
For our family, Mom was the last of the Greatest Generation, who came of age during World War II. She grew up in Pontiac and met our father, Forrest Fay Lewis, there. Our father was a Master Sergeant in the Army in Europe during the War and, subsequently, the proprietor of a shop in Downtown Pontiac. She married Forrest in October, 1946. She loved children and was a great mother who gave birth to eleven and "nurtured and guided" several others to adulthood.
She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her son, Michael Norman, by one granddaughter, Baby Elizabeth Braden, and by one grandson, Kevin Sheely.
Margaret continued her family's tradition of preparing sumptuous meals for Thanksgiving and Easter. She is fondly remembered for making the world's best meatloaf.. with honorable mention for her fried chicken, pineapple upside-down cake, and her "Bunny Cakes". During her later years, she resided at the East Glen Apartments, a seniors-living facility, where she received many "Resident of the Month" awards for organizing and supporting the activities for her many friends. She was the "Queen of All Bingo" at East Glen. We want to say a special "Thank you" to all of our cousins, who made special visits to see Mom - especially on her birthdays.
Margaret was a devout Catholic. Visitation will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 1:30PM with a Funeral Service there at 2:30PM. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube. A private graveside service will take place at the DeWitt City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested for the McLaren Hospice and Homecare Foundation, 1515 Cal Drive, Davison, MI, 48423.
