Passed away on November 14, 2015 at the age of 96.
She was born May 15, 1919, in Minneapolis MN to David Craig Adie and Ann (Herr) Adie. Jean earned her BA from Smith College in 1941, and her Masters of Social Work from Columbia University in 1942. She married Karl F. Thompson on May 2, 1942. She took great joy in her social work career, especially her work in adoption services, and her second career as a fierce advocate for Medicaid expansion and nursing home reform. She was one of the founders of All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Karl, in 2007. She is survived by her children Virginia (Robert) Bemis of Ashland OH, David (Anne) Thompson of Haslett MI, and Elizabeth (Miriam Kirscht) Thompson of Ypsilanti MI; by
granddaughters Brewer (Chris) Thompson-Gordon and Karla (Adam) Krasnoselsky and four great-grandsons.
