Age 58, passed peacefully July 6, 2013 with family present after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Fowlerville, MI. Jan worked 30 years at MSU with 27 years to service to the College of Osteopathic Medicine where she worked as an Administrative Assistant and Program Director in the Offices of Continuing Medical Education and Faculty Development, Learning and Leadership. She was also Past President of Michigan Meeting Planners. Jan enjoyed many things: expressing her views to others and always doing the best she could in all aspects of her life; daily interactions with her family, many friends and colleagues; trips to FL, AZ and to her condominium at Shanty Creek Resort in Northern MI; working and interacting with so many outstanding and devoted osteopathic physicians, and other health care professionals she encountered in her daily work, and in the continuing medical education courses she coordinated; frequent interactions with osteopathic medical students; promoting Osteopathic Medicine, especially Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine; attending MSU basketball and football games; good wine and a good “Chocolate Martini”. Jan is remembered as a devoted and loving wife and mother, special friend to all those persons she encountered, no matter their status in life, a confidant and an empathetic human being. She was an advocate for those who sought her advice and help.
She was preceded in death by her father, Keith E. Huck.
Surviving are her husband, William M. Falls, Ph.D., Associate Dean/Student Services MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and Professional Anatomy, East Lansing, MI; son, Trever G. Carson, Tucson, AZ; mother, Vondell (Kingsley) Huck, Fowlerville, MI; 2 brothers, Keith E. Huck, Jr., Fowlerville, MI and Craig A. Huck, Salt Lake City, UT.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 1230 Bower Street, Howell, MI 48843. Ph. (517) 546-2730. Luncheon will be at the church.
A special thank you to all the devoted and compassionate health care professionals, many who became very good friends, who helped Jan during her illness. A special thank you to Great Lakes Hospice and the Ingham County Medical Care Facility for Jan’s excellent and compassionate end of life care.
