Howard D. “Butch” Miller, 77, passed away May 18 at Sparrow Hospital. He was born to Howard E. and Edna (Schrader) Miller on June 29, 1943 in Lansing.
He is survived by his wife Gloria (Jackson) Miller whom he met at Walter French Junior High School and they were married for 55 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Michelle (Karl) Hand and Cami (Bryan) Shadaker; grandchildren, Evan and Alayna Hand and Carson, Aiden and Jackson Shadaker. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Gary (Laura Wilson) Jackson.
One of his proudest moments was being inducted into the Sexton High School Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Sexton Basketball State Championship Teams of 1959 and 1960. He continued his sports achievements as a member of Michigan State’s Basketball and Baseball teams and a member of the MSU Varsity Club. Butch was also an MSU Basketball and Football season ticketholder for many years. An avid golfer, he played some of the finest courses in the US as well as many life-long friends.
A private memorial will be held.
