Rev. Harold Clifton Berkley passed away peacefully at home in E. Lansing, MI on December 2, 2024 at the age of 90. He is survived by a loving family: His wife of 69 years, Ardus Helen (née Aadalen) Berkley; His children: Timothy Berkley (Judi), LeClaire, IA; Lawrence Berkley (Sandra), Crestview, FL; Cheryl McKeel (Mark), E. Lansing; Thomas Berkley, Bath, MI; His grandchildren: Laurelin (Berkley) Moeller, Carnation, WA; Russell Berkley, Lakewood, CO; Tiffany (Berkley) Hermann, Gainesville, FL; Chloé Berkley, Plantation, FL; Cydney McKeel, Hillsdale, MI; Caemon McKeel, E. Lansing, MI; And one great-grandchild: Calvin Moeller, Carnation, WA.
Harold was born on February 13, 1934, in Detroit, MI. He served in a variety of local church ministries from college at Bob Jones University and on into his 80s, primarily in the Michigan District of the Assemblies of God, building many lasting relationships along the way. He returned to school to become an electrician and retired from Ford Motor Company in 1994 to move "up north" and then to Florida.
The move "up north" was a lifelong ambition to accommodate Harold's enjoyment of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. There and later in Florida he also continued to serve in volunteer ministry, which he saw as his life's calling.
Into his last weeks a well-worn Bible sat beside his chair, and he continued to enjoy hearing a good hunting story or looking out the window to see deer in the park across the street. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald William Berkley, his mother, Edna L. Berkley (née Burgess), and his father, Russell William Berkley. Harold is being cared for by Gorsline Runciman funeral homes and will be buried at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Twp, MI.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Provision Living in the 2nd Floor Theater, 6300 Abbot Road, East Lansing. In lieu of flowers, Harold’s family suggests donations to Assemblies of God World Missions (https://agwm.org/en/give/) or City Rescue Mission of Lansing (https://bearescuer.kindful.com/).
