Denise Fox-Lycos, aged 68, passed away on November 15th, 2024, at McLaren hospital in Lansing, Michigan. She was surrounded by her family, telling stories of her life and listening to her favorite music.
Denise was born on November 9th, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan to Kenneth and Eleanor Fox. And ever since she was a little girl, was a devoted Detroit sports fan. As she would like to say, “she was a Lion’s fan before it was cool.”
In 1974, she started college at Michigan State University (Go Green!) where she developed her passion for teaching and the MSU Spartans. After graduating with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education, she started her career working with the Ingham Intermediate school district.
For 47 remarkable years, Denise dedicated herself to the service of students, families, and the special education community. Her dedication, compassion and tireless commitment over her career will leave an extraordinary legacy and impact on all she worked with and helped.
But Denise’s favorite job throughout her life would undoubtedly be wife, mom and grandma. She is survived by her husband Richard, son Kevin (Olivia), daughter Megan, and granddaughter Kamara.
Denise and Richard first met while working together at the Capital Area Career Center. They were married on May 12th, 1990, and have been proud residents of the Haslett community and St. Martha’s church for the past 34 years.
Her commitment to her family throughout her life was undeniable. Even through her battle with cancer, she never missed a sports game or cheerleading competition. She was a fierce protector of her family, providing constant love and support.
When asked how they would best describe Denise, her loved ones said she was loving, selfless and strong. Which all those that had the pleasure of knowing her, would absolutely agree with.
Family, friends, and all those impacted by Denise are invited to join the family for a memorial visitation on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5pm until 8pm, with a rosary service at 7:30pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes- East Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11am at St. Martha Parish in Okemos.
Memorial contributions in Denise's name may be made to St. Martha School or Ingham Intermediate School District, EI Programs.
“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
