Clarence “John” Fleming, 74, of Lansing, Michigan, was born in Merrill, Michigan to Clarence M. and Frances M. Fleming on June 2, 1941. Clarence went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2016. Clarence’s life-long passion was construction. He was a Master Carpenter, who was most happy when he had tools in his hands and something to build or remodel. His pride and joy was the successful company he helped found in 1993, First Contracting.
He is survived by his three children, his daughter Tamara (Tammy) Fleming, and his two sons, Brian J. Fleming (Wendy) and Nathan J. Fleming (Dana), his wife Bonnie (Olson) Fleming, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters; Mary Wilken, Dick Fleming (Barb), Ray Fleming, Kathleen Doyle, Robert Fleming (Mary), Alice Gardner (Bill), Martin Fleming (Nancy), Leo Fleming (Marilyn), David Fleming (Sharon), Frank Fleming, and sister-in-law Myra Fleming. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Donald Wilken, his brother-in-law William Doyle, his sister Helen Stroiwas and her husband Ed, his sister Margaret Haspiel and her husband George, his brother Terrence Fleming, and sister-in-law Patricia Fleming. He was also preceded in death by his late wife Patricia (Diebler) Fleming. A funeral mass will be held at St. Martha Catholic Church, 1100 W. Grand River Ave, Okemos, MI, on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:30 am with Rev. Jonathan Wehrle officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI, from 2-5 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at church. The family requests that contributions be made to the St. Martha Catholic Church Gift Campaign (building fund).
