Charles C. Warner, 66, of Dimondale, MI, passed away on April 23, 2014 after eight long months of hospitalizations and rehabilitations as the result of an accident. He passed away peacefully at home with his family, finally free from pain. Charlie was born Dec. 18, 1947 to Charles L. and Shirley A. Warner in Midland, MI. He graduated from Midland High School in 1966. He attended Michigan State University for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He went on to teach chemistry and physics for 34 years at Ionia High School, where he inspired many students with his love of science.
Charlie will be dearly missed by all who knew him as a husband, father, son, friend, teacher, colleague, and neighbor. He was an honest, hard-working, loyal, and kind man who led by example. At various times throughout his life he participated in marathons, triathlons (including an Iron Man), and bike races, (including the DALMAC). He liked to garden, collect coins, and read. He was also a regular platelet and blood donor at the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years Pamela, their children David and Amy, his mother Shirley, his sister Denise (Joel) Love, his aunt Doris Wrigley, his mother-in-law Carolyn Zaborsky, and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, a nephew, and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Charles L. and his nephew Jacob Love.
A memorial honoring Charlie will take place on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in East Lansing, MI, at 2:00 p.m. A Charles Warner Science Scholarship fund is being set up at Ionia High School to honor Charlie.
