Charles W. (Chuck) Elbers, age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 20, 2014. He was born on February 18, 1937, in Reese, MI, to Walter and Florence (Reinbold) Elbers. He graduated from Reese High School in 1955 and Alma College in 1959. He was united in marriage 51 years ago to Jeanette Kern on October 12, 1963. He worked at Frankenmuth State Bank for several years and then retired as a Bank Examiner from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago after 32 years. Surviving, in addition to his wife Jeanette, are two daughters, Lisa (Rich) DuSatko and Amy (Jim) Baker. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Brian, Jared, and Lindsey DuSatko and Payton and Charlie Baker, who were all very dear to him.
Also surviving are his mother Florence; sisters, MaryAnn Mossner and Barb Solgat; brother, Tim (Missy) Elbers; brothers-in-law, Harry Kern and Frank (Loretta) Kern; and sister-in-law, Vera Kern. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Walter, two brothers-in-law Bruce Mossner and James Kern and one sister-in-law Lucille Kern. Chuck’s family will receive friends on Thursday, October 23, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River, East Lansing, MI 48823 and at St. Luke Lutheran Church on Friday, October 24, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos. Chuck and Jeanette were charter members of St. Luke Lutheran Church, so in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5589 Van Atta Road, Haslett, MI 48840, in memory of Chuck.
