Born November 26, 1968 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Brett was second oldest of five children of parents, Jim and Sherry Robinson. Brett is survived by his parents; his sister, Shawn; brothers, Travis, Clayt, and Tyler; and soulmate, Amy Jo.
During past years, Brett entertained many with his witty medical updates via email. As a fitting tribute to his lasting legacy, an attempt to capture Brett’s unique style is below in a final first-person-point-of-view commentary (some of which are his own words from previous email “updates”).
“I've often wondered what the percentages are for the answer to ‘I've got good news and bad news, what do you want first?’ Personally, I prefer good news last. I think ending on a good note is easier to absorb. So here we go… I finally had enough of my beloved Weather Channel being inaccurate about the predictably unpredictable Michigan weather. Dang. I can finally catch up on some cycling, hockey, movie viewing, general care for others, sport watching (with added personal commentary via texts), travel, neighborhood care taking, family time, game playing, and punctual and efficient package delivery. I will also revisit my passion for climbing the U.S. state geographical high points—only 19 left! Thank you, everyone, for your constant love, support, and laughs over the years. You all were always appreciated. On a final note, cancer was a part of my life that reinforced the UPS driver code: ‘Adjust to changing conditions.’ Through the ups and downs, I continuously learned and grew to have a great appreciation for the potential of the body to hurt and to heal. Like a great Tour de France stage profile, there's a bit more flat line and downhill before a positive climb from the bottom. I completed that stage. Overall, I enjoyed the ride, and I finished on my own terms! ~Brett"
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel. On line condolences may be made at www.greastlansing.com
