WILFRID E. AREL, 85, widower of June (Wallace) Arel, died on August 25th , 2012 with family at his side at Woodlake of Tolland, Tolland, Ct. He was born on Dec. 4th., 1926 in Claremont, NH to Adelard and Mary-Jane (Petrin) Arel, where he grew up as the youngest of eight children. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WW ll. After the war he moved to East Hartford CT where he met his beloved wife June Wallace. Wil worked at Scully Mfg. in E. Hartford and later became a partner in Aerex Mfg. in Manchester, CT where he worked until his retirement.
Following the death of his beloved June he moved to Bradenton, FL where he enjoyed riding his Harley. With a group of wonderful friend he took road trips to Mexico, Alaska and rode the famous Deals Gap until failing health brought him back to family in Connecticut in 2010.
Wil and June had no children of their own but he was a very special uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews. He had a ready smile, quick wit, big heart and a sense of adventure that will always be treasured by those who knew him.
He leaves to mourn him a sister, Lucia Gilbert and a sister-in–law Dorothy Arel of Claremont, NH, his nieces and nephews throughout the East Coast and many friends and extended family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 1st , 2012. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
