We mourn the loss of Weinshet Gebrewolde, 60, who passed away and reunited with the Lord with her loving family by her side on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Weinshet was born on June 7, 1964 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and was the daughter of Mamo Gebrewolde and Fantaye Asede-Gifaweson. Weinshet worked in the hospitality industry at the Hilton Hotel, Hartford, for over 35 years. She also worked in the medical field for a period of time.
A devoted Christian, Weinshet was very involved in the church community and loved praising God. She was kind, hardworking, very down to earth person with a big heart. In her free time, Weinshet enjoyed cooking, spending time with her precious children and worshiping the Lord. Above all, Weinshet dedicated her life to her children and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and dear friend.
Weinshet leaves behind her two loving daughters Selamawit and Rahel Dejen; One cherished granddaughter Rubi; Two siblings Tesfaye and Misrak; and many close friends who were close to her heart, especially Belaynesh Berta who was like a sister to her. She will be missed by so many. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all those who offered support through their prayers, visitations and other means.
A service to honor Weinshet’s life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11 am at Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, (Section E-Prime Extension) 220 East Center Street, Manchester. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the cathedral. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
