Ruth E. (Olson) Lindberg of Glastonbury, “our firecracker”, has gone to her next journey on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from her home. “Ruthie” also known as “Little Rudy” was the loving wife of 43 years of Frank G. Lindberg. She was born in Hartford, a daughter of the late Albert O. and Eva R. (Usanis) Olson, and had resided in the East Hartford area for many years prior to moving to Glastonbury 25 years ago. Prior to her retirement, Ruthie worked for over 18 years at the Hartford Canoe Club in East Hartford. She loved all animals and liked decorating, solving word-searches, and gardening.
In addition to her beloved husband Frank, Ruthie is survived by a son, Edward D. Welland of Hartford; two daughters, Donna R. Taylor and her husband, Larry, of Tennessee, and Valerie R. Sousa and her husband, Mario, of Glastonbury; two special grandchildren, Reno Moon Sousa of Glastonbury and Michael Benson serving in the U.S. Army; her devoted dog, Leah; two dear sisters-in-law, Betty Barnes and Esther Lindberg both of Mount Vision, NY; two additional grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, former customers, and friends. Along with her parents, “Little Rudy” was predeceased by two brothers, Albert “Al” Urbates of East Hartford and Edward D. Olson of Sidney, NY.
Funeral service will be Friday (December 21st) at 10:30 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, (Section K), Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (December 20th) from 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to the Protectors of Animals, 144 Main Street, Unit O, East Harford, CT 06118.
