Raymond E. Dionne, 71, of South Windsor, CT passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2022. He was born in Hartford, CT, on November 5, 1950, son of the late Francis C. Dionne and Lorraine Marie (Frenette) Dionne. Ray was raised in Hartford. He attended St. Anne’s Parochial School and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1969. Ray was an U.S. Army Veteran, having served as a parachute rigger. He was a member of the Franco-American War Veterans and French Social Club, and served as an officer for the VK VFW Chapter I. Ray worked alongside his father as a mechanic for seven years at Hamill’s Garage in Hartford. He was later employed by the State of Connecticut as a truck and equipment mechanic and retired after twenty-eight years. Ray’s many enjoyments included camping, fishing, bonfires, county music, and two stepping. He was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and UConn Huskies. He devoted his retirement to helping other veterans. Above all he loved his family. Ray is survived by his daughter Jennifer Dionne of Hartford, his son David Dionne and partner Christopher E. Grasso of West Springfield, MA, and his brothers and sisters, Donald Dionne and wife Elizabeth of North Windham, Barbara Dionne Murphy of Canton, Thomas Dionne of Manchester, Edward Dionne of New Britain, Kenneth Dionne of East Hartford, Sarah Dionne of Hartford, and Kristine Dionne of Hartford. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Peter Dionne. Respecting the wishes of Ray, there will be a private graveside service at the convenience of his family at Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor, CT. There are no calling hours.
