Paul E. Raff Jr.

Paul E. Raff Jr., passed away to be with the Lord on May 16, 2014, surrounded by his family and clergy. He was born on November 13, 1934 to the late Marion (Bantle) and Paul E. Raff Sr. Paul lived his whole life in Glastonbury, as his parents before him. He went thru most of the Glastonbury school system transferring to Suffield Academy to graduate from High School. He also attended and graduated from Nichols College. Paul afterwards served in the US Army & Army Reserves for 8 years in Anti-Aircraft Artillery.

During this same period of time Paul met Janice L. Smalley of Wethersfield, they married on May 11, 1963, enjoying 51 years of marriage.

Paul worked in Hartford as a bookkeeper/accountant, as a welder at Electric Boat, and finally for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as an expediter retiring in 1992 with 27 years of service.

Paul and family are longtime members of the First Church of Christ, Congregational in Glastonbury. In the 60s, 70s and early 80s Paul was an active member for 54 years of the Glastonbury Elks Lodge 2202 serving as secretary for many years.

Paul was an only child and is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Janice Smalley Raff. Son William P. Raff of Glastonbury and daughter Holly Fydenkevez and her husband Joseph and their two children Ashley and Michael, all of East Hartford.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at 11am at the 1st Church of Christ Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial with Military Honors will be at 2pm in St. James Cemetery, Glastonbury.
