Mary M. Mauro

Mary (Melillo) Mauro, 92, of Glastonbury, formerly of Hamden, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Mary was born in New Haven, a daughter of the late Carmen and Assunta Melillo and lived most of her life in Hamden, before moving to Glastonbury in 2006. Mary started working at an early age to help support her widowed mother and family. She worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. as a sales associate in 1954 when the new store opened on Dixwell Ave and retired in 1981. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, enjoying family vacations at Sebago Lake in Maine and for her devotion to St.Ann.

She was predeceased by her husband James F. Mauro in 1973. Mary is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Susanne Dock and her husband Roger of Glastonbury, her treasured grandsons James Dock and his wife Heidi of Auburn , ME, and Timothy Dock of San Marcos, CA, her great grandson Boden Dock of Auburn, ME, her sisters Carmel DeMato of Hamden and Paula DeBenedetto of Derby as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Pat Melillo and his wife Camille, her sisters Louise Cabone and her husband Joseph and Rose Esposito and her husband Mario. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 22, 2010 at 11AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT, followed by internment in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamden. Family and friends are welcome to join together from 9:45AM-10:45AM at the Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Glastonbury Fuel Bank, C/O Social Services, 300 Wells Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
