She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 19, 1939. She was the daughter of Effie and Thomas Sullivan, and the sister of her late brother, Colin Sullivan.
She attended St. Mary’s Nursing school in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated and became an RN in 1969. She began her career in geriatric care at a nursing home in New Rochelle, NY. While working there, she met the love of her life, John “Jack” Holohan. He was the man who visited his mother every day at the home and brought cookies to all residents each day. Watching this daily ritual of Jack, she was hooked, and when she introduced herself, so was he. They married one year later in 1970. They were married for 25 years until his passing in 1996.
Gram will be forever remembered for her love of God and her daily watching of the Catholic channel, a hilarious sense of humor, and her willingness to mend and sew your clothes, wash the dishes, her endless glass of Chardonnay and her genuine care and concern for everyone she met. She would do anything for you. She was also an endless storyteller and we could all recite her stories from the past. It was always a fun time with Gram.
She is survived by her only child, Rose Holohan, of Glastonbury, CT and her fiancé Nicholas Duva of East Hartford. She also leaves behind her three beloved grandchildren, who she lived with her in Glastonbury the past several years, Bailey Sohn of Boston, MA, Kaitlin Sohn of Glastonbury and Matthew Sohn of Glastonbury. She absolutely adored them and “slipped” them money frequently. She loved to make them smile. She is additionally survived by many close friends of the family, in Glastonbury, especially her daughter by choice, Robin Lynch, who was truly another daughter to her.
