Meriden - Mary Jean (Hobbs) (Szymaszek) Angiletta, 91, wife of the late Robert A. Angiletta passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. She was born March 23, 1931 in East Hartford the daughter of the late Bridget (O’Reily) and Thomas Hobbs. Mary graduated Manchester High School in 1949 and later owned and operated Dan Szymaszek & Sons, after the passing of her first husband Daniel L. Szymaszek. She was a devout parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and dedicated her life to raising 12 children and numerous grandchildren. She cherished her time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and let’s not forget the casinos.
Mary is survived by twelve children, Michael Szymaszek, Kathleen Montano, Daniel Szymaszek (Karen), Patricia (Brian) Caldwell, Marcia (Lawrence) Iben, Stephen (Joyce) Szymaszek, Mary McIntyre, Thomas (Tammi) Szymaszek, Carolyn Szymaszek, Joseph (Andrea) Szymaszek, Ellen (John) MacDougall and Robert (Mimi) Angiletta, 24 grandchildren; Heather, Ashley, Joseph, Jared, Marisa, Christopher, Meghan, Matthew, Jeremy, Adam, Patrick, Daniel, Kelly, Kevin, Danielle, Michelle, Justin, Olivia, Emma, Cole, Luke, Alison, Brandon and Shawn, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and James Hobbs.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden, everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 No. Main St., Ext, Wallingford on Monday, June 13 from 3:00-7:00pm.
