Lillian Person

Lillian Person, 93, of Vernon (formerly Ellington and East Hartford), passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Born June 12, 1931 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Otto and Kaja (Jensen) Olsen.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Francis Person. Lillian is survived by a daughter Christine Clarke (Richard) of Vernon, a son Peter Person (Donna) of Stafford Springs, and a daughter-in-law Carol Person of N. Windham. Lillian was a proud grandmother to Heather, Lauren, Sara, Samantha, Katelynn, Erik, Aron, Emily, Hannah and Anneliese. And great-grandchildren: Chase, Finola, Bode, Kaja, Riggs, Emma, Jacob and Charlotte. They all brought her immense joy. She also leaves a brother, Otto “Bill” Olsen (Leah) of New York as well as several nieces and a nephew. Lillian was predeceased by her son Paul Person and sister Elizabeth Merritt.

Lillian earned her master's degree in Education and taught in East Hartford. She and Fran cherished many trips to the Chesapeake Shore area and several vacations to explore the south. She was a faithful member of New Covenant UMC and the community it served. Family and friends enjoyed the many recipes she cooked up for parties, potlucks and family holiday dinners.

Relatives and friends may call at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford on Friday November 22, 2024 from 2-5pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23 at 10:00 am at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 16 Church St., East Hartford. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow beside her husband at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Covenant UMC or Habitat for Humanity.
