Joseph James Dionne

Joseph James Dionne, 87, of East Hartford, loving husband for the last 60 years to Nancy (Leighton) Dionne, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. Born on May 2, 1935, the fourth child out of six of the late Augustine and Adele (Fagan) Dionne in Waterville, Maine. Joseph had been an East Hartford resident for over the last 50 years.

Joseph was a veteran of the US Coast Guard before attending the University of Maine for two years. Prior to his retirement, Joseph was a machinist at Jacobs Manufacturing. Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. Joseph enjoyed going to his grandson’s baseball games and playing Sudoku. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed to tinker around the house fixing things and then would do the same to the rest of the houses in the neighborhood. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Along with his wife Nancy, Joseph leaves behind his son Jeffrey of Hartford, his son Russell and wife Catherine of Newington, two grandsons Matthew and Samuel Dionne of Newington, and like a son Dennis Michaud, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Joseph was predeceased by his son Raymond.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:00am. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the gravesite.
