Raised in Chester, MA he had many dear friends and cherished memories. As a Chester High School Class of 1956 graduate, George attended the New England Institute. He worked for Dickinson Streeter, Watermans and Coburn Wilbert Burial Vault. He retired as President from the Whitman branch of Wilbert Burial Vault.
George served as the Alumni Association Treasurer for 60 years for the Chester High School. He volunteered at Heritage Plantation for many years and enjoyed being an active participant at Overlook Community in Charlton where he had many friends.
His affiliations included: Raised in Converse Lodge A.F. & A.M. (Malden 1963), Worshipful Master (1974), Treasurer (1996-2014), Assistant Treasurer (2018 – Present), Proxy of Converse Lodge (1996-2006), Masonic Home Lodge Representative (1999-Present), Boston LaFayette Lodge of Perfection Degree Worker (40+ Years) and Member of Ritualistic Degree Team of Aleppo Temple (25 Years). His awards include: Joseph warren Medal (2005), 50 Year Masonic Veterans Medal, Meritorious Service Award (1993) and 32 Degree MSA Valley of Boston Scottish Rite (1972).
George leaves his sister Jean and brother-in-law Richard Beasley. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Shirley and his brother-in-law Donald Savery.
George was a loving supportive friend, who gave sound advice and loved a good laugh. He will be deeply missed. Donations in honor of George, may be made to the Chester Historical Society,15 Middlefield St. Chester MA 01011.
Burial will be Thursday June 25th, 2020 at Pine Hill Cemetery Chester MA at 1:00 pm.
