Gabriel Wakeley Riley, 15, of Glastonbury, son of Joel Riley and Pamela Kelley, died suddenly on March 14, 2017. He was born October 29, 2001 and attended Glastonbury High School where he was a freshman.
Gabe was an honor student and a member of the Unified Theater at his high school. He had a passion for art, music, movies, cooking, and animals. He was a strong advocate for both human and animal rights. Gabe was caring, gentle, and kind with a great sense of humor. Most of all, he loved spending time with his parents, siblings, and circle of close friends.
Gabe is survived by his mother Pamela and her partner Robert Lang of Glastonbury, his father Joel and his wife Brittany of Wallingford, his older brother Evan of Glastonbury, and his younger siblings Gracie and Henry of Wallingford. He also leaves his maternal grandmother Elinor Lutch of Guilford, his paternal grandfather Wayne Riley and his wife Tracey of Lexington, Virginia, his great-grandparents Robert and Mildred Banker of Sugar Loaf, New York, his aunt Allison Lutch and her husband Robert Heil of Louisville, Kentucky, and his uncle Douglas Kelley of Deep River. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins, cherished family members, and loving friends. He is predeceased by his beloved grandmother Nancy Banker Riley.
Gabe's family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tnpk., Glastonbury. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 PM at Glastonbury High School Auditorium, 330 Hubbard St. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Gabe’s memory to the ASPCA (www.aspca.org) or the Human Rights Campaign (www.hrc.org).
