John F. Dunbar

Of Amherst, New York passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023 at age 91 surrounded by his adoring family. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee McDonald) Dunbar. Loving father of John F. (Terri) Dunbar Jr. , Jill A. Formella, Jeffrey A. (Claudia) Dunbar and James C. (Kym) Dunbar. Dear grandfather of John III (Shane), Kelly, Kim (Adam) Schenkel, Abigail, Jacob, Grace, Adam, Mary, Tyler, Mitchell, Samantha, Sabrina (Eric) Eiterman. Brother of the late Alice O'Halloran, Thomas Dunbar, Marjorie Kustra and Elizabeth Muldoon. Also survived by nieces and nephews. No prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 20th at 10am at St. Mary's Church 6919 Transit Rd. Swormville, NY 14051. Please assemble at church. John grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts, and was a spirited graduate of the College of the Holy Cross. Following his honorable discharge from proudly serving our country, he joined Westinghouse in Pennsylvania where he met and married his dearly beloved wife Nancy of 66 years. Together they affectionately raised a loving family in Amherst, NY as he continued his career at Bell Aerospace. John was a role model to all who knew him of loyally putting family first, resourcefully and meticulously caretaking his house and landscaping, and bringing immense joy to others.
