Born October 12th 1940, Mr. Daniels grew up in Johnston County and later moved to Dunn.
He attended elementary school at Meadow School and is an alumnus of Dunn High School. Growing up in farm country in rural Johnston County near Benson, his parents taught W.H. the value of hard work and to love the Lord, his family and his neighbors.
Mr. Daniels loved the outdoors, especially the mountains. He hiked and climbed mountains from North Carolina to Colorado and in Germany and Austria. He raised two sons William Anthony Daniels and Terry Lynn Daniels, both of whom shared W.H.’s love for travel and adventure.
Anthony and Terry both joined the military and served as linguists, with Terry learning Arabic and Anthony learning Russian and serving as a Russian linguist and interpreter. A high point of his travels was his 2002 vacation in Russia with his wife Krimhilde (Hilda) Daniels where he toured the Kremlin, attended a ballet performance at the Bolshoi Theater and visited palaces, churches and historic sites in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.
Mr. Daniels worked most of his adult life in the automotive services industry, serving briefly at a location in North Hills in Raleigh and later for more than 20 years at Perry Brothers Tire Service in Dunn. He also briefly worked as a commercial truck and delivery driver with both Lundy Packing Company in Clinton and at Godwin Building Supply in Dunn, NC.
Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his parents, the late William Hurley Daniels, Sr. (Jack) and mother Mila Elizabeth Daniels, by his son, Terry Lynn Daniels, his brother Junnius, and sisters Melba and Betty.
He is survived by his son, Anthony, his wife Hilda, by stepsons Ricky and Eddie Norris, by his sisters Elda and Dorothy and brother Jerry. He is the grandfather to three grandsons, Nick, Ryan and Scott Daniels, great-grandfather to Oakley, Charlotte (Charlie) and Ellie Grace Daniels and to Katelyn Wood.
