John Powell Cole Sr.

Mr. John Powell Cole Sr. Answered his Master’s call on Monday October 24th, 2022.

Mr. Cole was born on June 25, 1936 to the late Leon LeMai Cole and Lucy Langston Cole of the Bentonville Township. He was the youngest of nine children.

After moving to Dunn, he met and married Alma Irene Dorman on May 30th, 1958. Together, they built a family, having four children, nine grandchildren, and seven great- grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

He was a devout follower of Christ and now rests in the arms of his Savior. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1959 – 1961. He retired with NC Department of Corrections in 2009 with 18 years of service.

A Funeral Service will be Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.

He is survived by his wife of 64 wonderful years, Irene Cole of the home.

Adopted Sister: Diane Farmer and (husband) D.A. of Roseboro, NC.

Daughter: Nora Cole Harrison and (husband) Bobby Sr. of Coats, NC.

Sons: J.P. Cole and (wife) Denise of Coats, NC; Carlie Cole and (wife) Frankie of Erwin, NC; and Andy Cole and (wife) Beth of Coats, NC.

Grandchildren: Carlie Cole, Jr. of Daytona, Florida; Bradley Cole and (wife) Amanda of Coats, NC; Bobby Harrison, Jr. and (wife) Whitney of Dunn, NC; Matthew Cole and (wife) Priscilla of Fuquay, NC; Christopher Cole and (fiance’) Ashley Brandner of Wilmington, NC; Amber Barnes and (husband) Alan of Coats, NC; Michael Cole of Coats, NC; Katie Cole of Coats, NC; and Madelyn Cole of Coats, NC.

Great Grandchildren: Makayla Harrison, Bradley Cole, Jr., Zoey Harrison, Brewer Cole, Dalton Harrison, Maple Cole and Abigail Cole.

Step-Great Grandchildren: Chloe Barnes, Dylan Barnes and Piper Smith.

And many nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn and at other times at the home of Andy and Beth Cole in Coats, NC. Prior to the service.
