Herman Lee Chavis

He was a good husband, father, brother-in-law, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Born in Robeson County, NC on October 5, 1945, to John and Hattie Chavis.

He worked at Hardwood Dimension, Erwin Mills, and The City of Fayetteville, before retiring in 2005.

Herman and his wife, Alice, were married for 60 years.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hattie Chavis, and brothers, Coohooling Jacobs and Robert Jacobs.

Herman is survived by his loving wife Alice; a son Keith and wife Shanta; a granddaughter; five grandsons; a great-grandson; two great-granddaughters; and his sisters Sallie and husband John, Darlene and husband Rick, Gloria and husband Wayne, Debbie, Stella, Margaret, and Magdalene.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Groves and Rev. David Kamaha officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
