Born in Sri Lanka, Ramani was the beloved daughter of Carmen Goonetilleke and Michael Weeresinghe, who predeceased her. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Sunil Leanage, and their three children, Darren, Michael and Allison, along with Alison’s husband, Max Stick
Ramani enjoyed a long career at McMaster University, followed by a number of years working for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board until her well-earned retirement. She is remembered as a dynamic and friendly coworker in both of these roles.
Her friends and family will miss Ramani’s lively nature and her warm personality. She loved having a strong social network around the world and will be dearly missed by extended family, friends, and her community, in Canada, Sri Lanka and in several other countries.
The family would like to thank Ramani’s doctors and care team for their services during her illness.
A Visitation for Ramani will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Marlatt Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 195 King Street West, Dundas. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 19 at St. Augustine’s Church, at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society or donations can be sent to Darren ([email protected]) that will be sent through Father Joe Selvanayagam for the people in Sri Lanka.
