Those of us honoured to call Murray a relative or friend are saddened to announce Murray’s decision to end this life following a recent diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Murray was such a unique individual, with so many friends and not a single enemy. A Westdale fixture, he lived his entire life in the house in which he was born.
Predeceased by his parents Hager and Edna Babb and his brothers Don (Doreen) and Trevor (Joan). Murray spent his full career as a highly regarded employee in the Accounting Department at Stelco, but sports was his lifelong passion. A member of the most senior Ontario baseball league in the 60’s, he played recreational and competitive touch football, hockey, and soccer into his 70’s and mentored many young players along the way. Murray’s purpose in life was to help others. He will be missed by so many neighbours who benefitted from his many touches of kindness.
In conformance with Murray’s request, and his typical modesty, there will be no memorial service. We ask that you honour him through your own personal acts of kindness to others. And, in lieu of flowers, please make someone smile today.
