As a Christian, Jim by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is reunited with his beloved wife, Verdella (2007) in Heaven.
Loving father of Jennifer and son in-law David Ruth and proud and loving grandfather of Daniel and Shannon. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Harold "Bud", nephews Harold and John, nieces Josie, Mary-Anne, Teresa, and April, his sister in-law Ruby Schmitt, and other extended family and friends.
Jim was born in Saugeen Township, Ontario and moved over the years to Preston, St. Catharines, and Hamilton. Over the years, Jim had many different occupations; in his younger years, he was an Auxiliary Police Officer in Preston and St. Catharines and in his later years, he retired from St. Joseph's Hospital Housekeeping Department in 1998. Before his wife Verdella passed away, much of his time was devoted to caring for her. He lived with his daughter, son in-law, and grandchildren in Dundas for the last 18 years of his life. The family have so many good memories of him during that time - travelling, volunteering at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, and spending time together. He enjoyed spending time at the stables with his daughter and being around the horses, loved airshows, was a good artist and he enjoyed drawing and making airplane and ship models. But the most important thing to Jim was spending time with his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service to celebrate his life at the Marlatt Funeral Home - Swackhamer Chapel, 195 King Street West, Dundas on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11 am . Burial will follow at Millgrove Cemetery, 880 Millgrove Side Road, Millgrove, Ontario.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
