Alain will be dearly missed by his loving wife Linda, his sister Lisette, his brother Gaëtan, his children Marc (Jasmine), Dominique (Steve), Stephanie (Ryan), and his stepson Sean (Paula). Alain’s life was illuminated by the love he had for his grandchildren Amelia, Ruby, Jérémy (Savanah), Zach, Loïck, Viviane, Brady, Wes, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Ezékiel.
Alain’s life was marked by travel and adventure. He spent many of his earlier years travelling as a pharmaceutical product manager and lived in Switzerland for two years with his young family. His retirement opened up new adventures, allowing him to explore and travel to parts of the world that really piqued his interests.
He was born and raised in East-end Montreal and came to Ontario in his 30’s speaking very little English. He became fluent in English and later excelled in his second career as a medical translator. He had a facility for language and an amazing vocabulary.
Alain enjoyed spending time with his family, creating art, reading, listening to music (especially Quebec artists), doing sudoku, playing Trivia and cards, going to concerts and the theatre, browsing through art galleries, and closely following the ups and downs of his beloved Montreal Canadiens hockey team. People who loved him know that he was light-hearted and funny, with a quiet joie de vivre. Alain cherished those he loved and kept them close to his heart.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Brush and to the staffs at Joseph Brant and Juravinski Hospitals, in particular the teams in hematology and intensive care, who treated Alain with dignity and compassion.
Visitation to celebrate Alain’s life will be held at Marlatt Funeral Home, Swackhamer Chapel, located at 195 King Street West, Dundas on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the same location. Burial will take place following the service at Garden Lane Cemetery, located at 181 7th Concession, Flamborough.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
